No. 2 Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2020 | Eco-friendly, sustainable toilet paper

No. 2 Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2020 | Eco-friendly, sustainable toilet paper

The Top Line: Not a buy!

We’ve tried a lot of sustainable bamboo toilet papers this year — read all about it in our Big Bamboo Toilet Paper Roundup Review, and No. 2 came ahead as one of the softer (Silk ‘n Soft still the softest!) and cost effective bamboo TP options. BUT, No. 2 toilet paper is one of the smallest rolls we tried! We also wish it was a bit softer, and not bleached.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $39.75 for 24 pack or $51.75 for 48 pack — or $1.08 to $1.66 per roll.

  • Packaging: Came in a cardboard box, no plastic.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased directly on the No. 2 website. You do have to pay for shipping unless you subscribe. The toilet paper is also available on Amazon.

  • Coupons: Subscribe to receive 5% off and free shipping.

  • What’s Your Impact? No plastic packaging (recyclable cardboard boxes) that usually comes standard with store-bought toilet paper. The paper itself is made from Bamboo, which can grow 3ft in just 24 hours — it can be harvested once a year and doesn’t need to be replanted. It also uses 30% less water than hardwood trees, gives out 35% more oxygen than trees — an acre of bamboo can fix approximately 25 metric tons of atmospheric CO2 per year.

The Experience

Context:

  • Quick shipping, and we like that they do have a 48 pack option available (less frequent shipping, less carbon footprint).

  • We’ve tried a lot of sustainable bamboo toilet papers this year — read all about it in our Big Bamboo Toilet Paper Roundup Review, and No. 2 came ahead as one of the softer AND cost effective bamboo TP options.

  • However, it is definitely one of the smallest roll compared to others we have tried. :(

  • That being said, Bamboo toilet paper is just less soft than normal toilet paper — we would prefer it to be softer!

The Cost

Go No. 2 is comparable in terms of cost when you buy the 48 pack, but on the expensive side if you are buying the 24 pack.

The Good:

We like the fun wrapping — especially the palm leaves version

We like bamboo! And the cardboard packaging — no plastic!

One of the softer options when it comes to bamboo toilet paper

The Bad:

The roll is too damn small!

We wish we could pick a box of the same wrapping rather than have to get a mix if you buy the 48 pack

Our Recommendation: Not a buy!

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
