Mother Earth Bamboo Toilet Paper Review 2021 | Sustainable, Eco-Friendly Toilet Paper
The Top Line:
NOT A BUY. We thought Mother Earth Bamboo Toilet paper worked just fine (not super soft like most other bamboo toilet papers), but nothing to write home about. We like that there is no plastic in the packaging, made of bamboo and 100% biodegradable. But the price is pretty darn high.
The Breakdown:
Cost & Products: $23.99 for 12 Double Rolls (3-ply 300 sheets each)
How ‘Clean’ Is This? Eco-friendly bamboo toilet paper, septic safe and biodegradable
Packaging: Came in a recyclable cardboard box that is fairly narrow (nice for storage purposes)
Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased on Amazon
Good to Know: Certified by Forest Steward Council and also by Amazon to be Climate Pledge Friendly.
What’s Your Impact? No plastic wrapping that comes standard with store-bought TP. The paper itself is made from Bamboo, which can grow 3ft in just 24 hours — it can be harvested once a year and doesn’t need to be replanted. It also uses 30% less water than hardwood trees, gives out 35% more oxygen than trees — an acre of bamboo can fix approximately 25 metric tons of atmospheric CO2 per year. No pesticides or fertilizers used, and whitened by Elemental Chlorine Free Bleaching process.
The Efficacy
We’ve tried a lot of bamboo toilet papers this year — and most are not very soft (read more about it in our Big Bamboo Toilet Paper Roundup Review).
Well, it is not Cottonelle
Does not shred like wimpy gas station TP - so no danger of disintegration when you need paper most :)
For the amount of potential good that can come of this, we do not mind that it isn’t super soft
The Cost
One source suggests that the average person uses 100 rolls of toilet paper per year, so we are going to use that for cost comparison.
Money Thoughts: So expensive to be green here. Given the variety of other options out there, would suggest looking elsewhere.
The Good:
✔ Pretty strong, doesn’t tear or pill
✔ No plastic!
✔ Bamboo paper
✔ Easy on septic tanks!
✔ 100% biodegradeable
✔ Certified by Forest Steward Council and also by Amazon to be Climate Pledge Friendly
The Bad:
✗ Pretty pricey (and the higher price doesn’t necessarily get you some more softness…)

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
