Marrick Lavender Lip Balm Review 2020 | Zero-waste, Sustainable Lip Balm

Marrick Lavender Lip Balm Review 2020 | Zero-waste, Sustainable Lip Balm

The Top Line: Marrick’s lip balm is a strong buy!

We love the reasonable price (less expensive than Burt’s Bees) for a plastic-free lip balm that smells amazing and works incredibly well!

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $6.00 for a .33oz lip balm

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? No plastic! Made with oils and beeswax.

  • Packaging: Comes in a recyclable paper/cardboard.

  • Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased it at Farm+Table, a small shop in Kennebunkport, Maine, but you can also purchase from the Marrick website.

  • Good to know: Comes in a variety of scents, including cocoa, rose, vanilla, and more.

  • What’s Your Impact? We go through 1 tube of lip balm every month or two, so it’s ~8 plastic tubes we don’t need to use anymore!

The Experience

Context: We’ve used everything from Burt’s Bees to Bioderma to good old fashioned Chapstick.

  • Scent: We purchased lavender, and you can really smell the lavender essential oil — a little bit of relaxation!

  • Texture: It is softer than Burt’s Bees lip balm, and we like it! Easy to apply and our lips were instantly softer.

  • Size: Worth noting that Marrick’s lip balm is quite a bit larger than normal lip balms at 0.33oz (Burt’s Bees are 0.15oz for example).

The Cost

We compared Marrick’s 0.33oz lip balm against an array of other popular lip balm brands, most of whom came in a much smaller size — Burt’s Bees, Veleda Skin Food Lip Butter, eos Organic Lip Balm, Aquafor Lip Repair Stick, Blistex Medicated Lip Balm, Chapstick, and C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve Lip Balm.

Money Report: Overall, Marrick’s Lip Balm is on the more expensive end, but still less expensive than Burt’s Bees, Aquafor and Veleda! Since none of the above options are plastic-free, except for C.O. Bigelow which uses aluminum, Marrick’s lip balm is a great zero-waste option.

The Good:

We love the scent, the lavender essential oil definitely comes across nicely on application

Larger size —> longer lasting tube!

Pricing is in-line with other lip balm brands, and actually less expensive than Burt’s Bees!

Plastic free!!!

Easy to use, just push the bottom

Natural ingredients: essential oils, shea butter, and beeswax

The Bad:

Nothing bad to report!

Our Recommendation: Marrick’s lip balm is a strong buy!

We love the reasonable price (less expensive than Burt’s Bees) for a plastic-free lip balm that smells amazing and works incredibly well!

We're on a mission to reduce our personal carbon footprint with small, hopefully easy, changes in our home to fight against climate change. This means we're looking for products that may be all natural, ideally zero waste, reusable or compostable -- while still being affordable!
