The Cheeky Panda Bamboo Kitchen Rolls 2020 Review | Sustainable, Zero Waste Paper Towels
The Top Line: Not a buy.
While we were excited to try bamboo paper towels, we can’t recommend The Cheeky Panda’s kitchen rolls. They are too pricey for a product that is significantly worse — we will stick with our reusable swedish dishcloths and recycled paper towels for now.
The Breakdown:
Cost & Products: $7.00 for 2 rolls
How ‘Clean’ Is This? 100% biodegradable
Packaging: Came in paper packaging, no plastic
Purchasing & Shipping: We purchased on Amazon
What’s Your Impact? No plastic packaging (recyclable cardboard boxes) that usually comes standard with store-bought paper towels. The paper itself is made from Bamboo, which can grow 3ft in just 24 hours — it can be harvested once a year and doesn’t need to be replanted. It also uses 30% less water than hardwood trees, gives out 35% more oxygen than trees — an acre of bamboo can fix approximately 25 metric tons of atmospheric CO2 per year.
The Efficacy
While we try to use our reusable swedish dishcloths or old dishrags as much as possible and it has significantly reduced our use of disposable paper towels, we still need to reach for it every so often. We were excited to try The Cheeky Panda’s bamboo kitchen rolls, especially after we had switched our toilet paper to bamboo.
This is definitely NOT soft - it is significantly less soft
Much thinner than normal paper towels, but very strong — we found that it stayed together extremely well
The roll is tiny! See below :(
