Meliora Dish Soap Bar Review 2023 | Zero-waste, natural dish soap bar

Meliora’s Dish Soap Bar: We’ve been washing our dishes with this plastic-free bar. Here’s our review:

The Top Line:

BUY. We love using Meliora’s Dish Soap Bar along with our kitchen brushes, particularly when we clean pots and pans. We love that there is an unscented (and lemon) option so that we only taste and smell our food when our dishes are clean and dry. The Meliora soap cuts through grease effortlessly, with ingredients that are non-toxic. And of course, we love how affordable the dish soap is: a little goes a long way and switching from a liquid soaps to solid soaps really is cost efficient.

The Breakdown:

  • Cost & Products: $9.99 for one bar and $28.49 for a pack of three. Bars can come unboxed or boxed for the same price. You can save 10% if you subscribe.

  • How ‘Clean’ Is This? Really clean! The ingredients are all super natural and non-toxic. Also, they are all fragrance-free.

  • Packaging: Ours was just wrapped in some paper. The boxed version comes in recyclable paper boxes.

The Bad:

None!

The Experience

Context: After growing up with Dawn and Palmolive, dish soaps we used Seventh Generation and Method for their greenness and slightly better ingredients. Those little bottles of Dawn are super addictive and they work pretty well. We have been using dish blocks for a couple of years now and here is our experience with Meliora’s Dish Soap Bar:

  • We love that Meliora uses just some craft paper for packaging which is both recycled and recyclable.

  • The block is pretty hefty and large at 7 ounces.

  • We got the unscented and it is just that .. totally unscented.

  • Even a small amount that you don’t see on the brush produces bubbles and cuts through grease.

  • Overall, we are very happy with how well this product works.

The Cost

From online recipes, 4oz of solid soap makes about a gallon (128oz) of liquid soap. So, we are going to calculate how much 100oz of liquid soap costs for comparison. For visualization, 100oz is about 4 of those “normal” sized liquid bottles. We compare Meliora’s solid bar not only to other bars, but to liquid dish soap bottles and refills like Blueland, Puracy, Palmolive, Seventh Generation and Method liquid dish soap.

Money Report: Like most solids, Meliora’s Dish Soap Bar is extremely affordable on a per ounce basis. DuJardin is the only cheaper one, but the real big savings is when you switch from liquid dish soaps to solid dish soaps. We like Meliora’s price point quite a bit here.

Our Recommendation:
